Everyone has had a mentor at some point in their life. Professional golfers such as Rory Mcllroy and Tommy Fleetwood had mentors to help shape their golfing career.
The First Tee is an international organization that helps provide mentors to the next generation and improve not only their golf skills but also to develop better life skills.
Guy Garbarino, Vice President of Advancements for The First Tee, has helped organize in-school and after-school programs for children of all ages. Garbarino talks about the importance of the organization and how it has impacted the youth.
“It’s really all about the young people and the stories,” Garbarino said. “When you get to see young people that are coming from the program that are very shy, they start to participate in our programs.”
Some of the kids in attendance of the 2019 Players Championship were able to not only meet Rory Mcllroy and Tommy Fleetwood, but they also had the opportunity to hit some golf balls with them and learn from some of the best in professional golf.
The First Tee is involved with over 10,000 elementary schools, the YMCA and the Boys and Girls Club. This organization brings the younger generation to improve their lives and their future.
