Riverside’s Artist Walk area is bustling with more activity than ever with the installation of the city’s newest skatepark, the Artist Walk Skatepark.
The Artist Walk Skatepark was an $8.8 million investment by the city of Jacksonville that seeks to provide a critical connection between the Northbank and Southbank Riverwalk areas. Artist Walk Skatepark was designed by the ever-popular California Skateparks, a skatepark construction company responsible for some of the highest profile skateparks in the world.
The Artist Walk Skatepark has been a huge hit from the perspective of local skaters, with many saying that the park brings a fresh, unique twist on skatepark design that the city previously lacked. The park blends street style skating with a more traditional skatepark style through its clever use of the 6-acre linear space it occupies beneath the Fuller-Warren Bridge.
The park is especially busy on Saturdays when it’s neighboring venue, the Riverside Arts Market, takes place. The park offers a place for restless children to go to drain some energy while their parents peruse the goodies and trinkets offered at the market.
Many local Riverside residents appreciate the park, as it gives kids growing up in the Riverside Area a fun place to go hangout with friends or kill some time, something that many locals say the area previously lacked.
If you are a Jacksonville skater, someone looking into the skating scene, or a parent of a child with boundless energy, be sure to check out the park.
