A long anticipated time of the year for students when school is out for a week. Students flock to locations where it offers warm weather and fun in the sun and Florida is one of these hot spots. For 4-6 weeks, Jacksonville becomes flooded with visitors wanting to experience the beaches.
According to the Chief Marketing Officer of Visit Jacksonville, Katie Mitura, “Springtime in Jacksonville is a very popular time to visit,” she said. “We market it much more towards families in the Northeast and Midwest—where they want that beach vacation but they also want that affordable, family-friendly place to go, and that’s where we’ll really market it.”
When it comes to marketing Spring Break for Jacksonville, the primary goal is to make visitors consistently visit every year. As Visit Jacksonville supplies them with an abundance of events and attractions during this time, they make sure to display the beauty of nature Jacksonville offers during Spring.
“We feel pretty strongly that February, March, and April are going to be very strong months for tourism,” said Mitura, “We talk about the events, how beautiful it is to be outside in nature, outside at the beach, the water is starting to get a little warmer. That’s really the angle we take to convince them to do that.”
Spring Break provides a boost in demand as Jacksonville becomes slammed with business. From the hotels, to restaurants, to breweries, to shops and more, a lot of money is brought into the community during this time. According to a 2024 Visit Jacksonville Economic Impact Report, “More than eight million people visited Jacksonville last year, generating $7.4 billion in economic impact for the local economy.”
