Cat Barbour

Multimedia Journalist

Cat Barbour is a senior at the University of North Florida majoring in multimedia journalism and minoring in painting, drawing, and printmaking. Cat’s goal is to bring awareness and create a conversation around mental illness through her writing and art. She enjoys learning and sharing the stories behind everyday people. Cat believes she can find the most valuable stories by simply getting to know a stranger.

Kasey Batchelor

Kasey Batchelor is a senior at the University of North Florida majoring in Multimedia Journalism and minoring in Painting, Drawing, and Printmaking. After studying social work at New York University her freshman year, she transferred to UNF and is a member of the Hick’s Honors College. She completed her senior internship during the fall of 2021 with Folio Weekly where she was able to put her skills to the test while writing about her interests such as music, local bands, and the arts, all while building lasting connections within the industry. Her B.S. is expected spring of 2022. 

Eric Benitez

Eric Benitez is a student at the University of North Florida majoring in communications with a concentration in journalism and minoring in sports management. My love of sports and writing has inspired me to pursue a career in sports journalism. As someone who enjoys writing, I have a deep appreciation for the art of storytelling. I enjoy writing stories about sports games, people and their experiences, and current events.

 

Marie Billow

Marie Billow is a senior graduating Fall of 2022 with degrees in Communications and Political Science. Her primary career focuses are local and political news. She has experience with newswriting as one of First Draft’s MVP volunteer fact checkers for 2020 and has been published in the Spinnaker. She has been working for five years and is currently in tech and sales. In her free time, she loves spending time with her cat, singing, and skateboarding. 

Daysia Borden

Daysia Borden is a senior at the University of North Florida. She is majoring in multimedia journalism and minoring in political science. Outside of class, she loves to dance and create content for her YouTube channel. For her career, she hopes to be a broadcast journalist and write stories that expose overlooked social issues.  

Isabella Casapao

Isabella Casapao is currently a senior at UNF studying communications with a concentration in multimedia journalism and minoring in political science. I am an anchor for Inside Swoop in 90. am most interested in writing about social and environmental activism, international politics, and music. My dream job would be to be a content writer for Saturday night Live or an album review writer for Pitchfork

  

Lauren Connell

Lauren Connell is a senior at the University of North Florida majoring in multimedia journalism and minoring in photography. Photography has taken over Lauren’s life in a positive way, she has found a true love and enjoys looking at life through a camera lens. Her dream career is to become a photojournalist and travel around the world to inform others.

Benjamin Guthrie

Benjamin Guthrie is a University of North Florida Communication student studying Multimedia Journalism. He hopes to use the knowledge and experience obtained from school to pursue either a journalism or public relations career in the video game industry, preferably as a writer. In his free time, he writes a video game blog, plays video games, and rock climbs. After graduation, Benjamin plans on pursuing his career wherever it may take him.

Haley Jones

Haley Jones is a senior at UNF majoring in communication with a focus in multimedia journalism and a minor in literature. Haley was born and raised in Jacksonville, but she enjoys traveling with her family and friends. She currently interns with Inside Swoop in 90 as a weather host, producing daily weather forecasts and weekly productions of Comm Connect. Upon her graduation in spring 2022, Haley hopes to pursue a career using her creativity and storytelling skills to help others in her community. 

 

Dylan Kelley

Dylan Kelley is a senior majoring in communications and minoring in sports management, who wants to merge his background and passion for sports with his communication skills. Outside of being a student, Dylan is a part of the UNF baseball team. He has also written an article for the Spinnaker. He has gained experience in editing videos on Adobe Premiere Pro.

Lauren Sapp is a senior at the University of North Florida pursuing a bachelor’s degree in multimedia journalism. She is currently the marketing and public relations intern for OspreyPERCH where she combines her love for storytelling and psychology. When she is not studying, Lauren can be found listening to music, playing with animals, or trying a new art medium. Following graduation, Lauren hopes to find work as a full-time storyteller or an opportunity to build on her digital marketing and graphic design skills.

Kaitlynn Sorondo

Kaitlynn Sorondo is a University of North Florida senior majoring in communications with a focus in multimedia journalism. She is also pursuing a double minor in sociology and American Sign Language and Deaf studies. Her love of writing and interpersonal communication has inspired her to connect the two through magazine feature writing. She would like to focus her career interviewing people that can shed light on social justice issues in the United States through in-depth interviews. In addition, she is drawn toward television production and the art of newscasting. She hopes to gain some experience in the newsroom after graduation.

Trever Voytko

Trevor Voytko is a student at the University of North Florida majoring in communications and minoring in sport management. Trevor’s love for sports is the driving force behind his desire to become a sports journalist and he has dreamed of being involved with football as a career in some capacity for most of his life. Trevor has worked with the Jacksonville Jaguars and is currently interning at 1010 XL, Jacksonville’s home for sports talk radio.
