Sushi, Flames and Fun

If you are looking to add an extra spark to your date night, Norikase is the place to be. Tokyo Moreno is a local fire dancer and aerial artist that brought the fire to this upscale restaurant. She first pitched the idea to the manager of Norikase because she was a regular customer and saw a hole in the market for this type of entertainment in Jacksonville. She says that fire performance gives her a chance to connect to people and learn more about each person she encounters. She said one of her favorite memories of performing at Norikase was when a little girl came up to her mid-performance and told her she was going to take her job. “My heart was on the floor,” Tokyo said. She said that seeing the smiles and capturing the attention from younger people makes it all worthwhile. Though fire dancing can be dangerous, Tokyo ensures that she always has a safety partner with her, along with a fire blanket and Aquaphor, to prevent burning her lips when she is eating fire. Though she says she may not be a fire dancer forever, she loves connecting with people through her art and inspiring the next generation. You can find Tokyo performing Friday nights at Norikase, located in Tinseltown.
