Coliseum of Comics: A Nerd’s Paradise in Jacksonville

By: Aaron Cox

Coliseum of Comics is Jacksonville’s comic book haven for collectors, gamers, and fans and so much more. The store is one of the Southeast’s largest comic book shops and carries everything from the latest superhero comics to the hottest back issues, graphic novels, manga, and more.

It isn’t, however, simply a store. Coliseum is more of an unofficial community hangout space for the town’s geeks. Role-playing game nights, game nights, and trading card tournaments are held on a regular basis and are used to gather the fans together in an informal, open space. It is where fandom and die rolls become buddies.

Its shelves are stocked not just with comics, but collectibles, figures, action figures, board games, and merchandise for hundreds of various franchises and pop culture phenomena. Marvel and DC, Dungeons & Dragons and Pokémon, or indies – there’s something on every fan’s menu at Coliseum.

With its very well-educated staff, friendly atmosphere, and appreciation of all things geek, Coliseum of Comics is still a place where folks find the past again and find something new. It’s merely a store—it’s where people, imagination, and story intersect.
